The nature of Azerbaijan differs for its diversity. This wonderful land surprises with its unique natural contrasts from subtropical areas to high alpine
meadows. There are nearly 250 lakes and 8400 big and small rivers in Azerbaijan. Mountains of the Greater and Minor Caucasus occupy over a half of the territory of Azerbaijan. 8 national parks, 11 reserves and 24 wildlife sanctuaries take over 10% of the territory of the country. Azerbaijan is rich in the sources of mineral and thermal waters. The flora of Azerbaijan includes more than 1500 types of medicinal plants.
Today Azerbaijan accounts for 344 mud volcanoes with 133 in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan has such kinds of resorts as balneological, climatic, mud resorts and the naphthalan oil resort.
